The Kibwezi Proposed Solar Park project is a 40 MWac solar photovoltaic (PV) plant designed to maximize energy generation while utilizing optimal land use. The plant will harness solar power, stepping up the generated energy from 0.415 kV to 220 kV for stable transmission through a substation.
A fixed installation system was selected for efficiency, though tracking systems were considered. The project integrates advanced solar panels, inverters, and other components to ensure reliability and long-term sustainability. The plant design also includes provisions for monitoring, safety, and optimal operation via a SCADA system. This solar park, located close to the equator, is strategically designed to reduce costs and optimize energy output, making it a critical step toward sustainable energy development in Kenya.
